Euclidean geometry can be thought of as a game played on a flat surface (like a sheet of paper), in which players start with a small number of basic shapes (like points, lines and circles) and use them to construct more complicated figures. Non-Euclidean geometry is any kind of geometry that doesn’t follow the Euclidean rules. The two most common types are hyperbolic geometry and elliptic geometry.

Hyperbolic geometry differs from Euclidean geometry in its treatment of parallel lines. In Euclidean geometry, parallel lines never meet, but in hyperbolic geometry they do eventually meet if you extend them far enough. This has some strange consequences: for example, in hyperbolic geometry there are an infinite number of triangles with no obtuse angles! Elliptic geometry also differs from Euclidean geometry in its treatment of parallel lines. In elliptic geometry there are no such things as parallel lines; instead, all lines intersect

Trigonometry

Now, let’s take a look at another example. This time, we’ll use the cosine function to find an angle measurement. Suppose we have a triangle with sides that measure 3, 4, and 5 units respectively. We know that the angle opposite the side of length 3 must be 60 degrees (this is because all right triangles have one angle that measures 90 degrees).

By using the cosine function, we can calculate the angle opposite the side of length 4:

cos(4) = adjacent/hypotenuse

        = 3/5

        = 0.6

Therefore, the angle opposite the side of length 4 must be 53.13 degrees.

Number Theory

Number theory is a branch of mathematics that deals with the properties of numbers in general, and integers in particular. It is a very old subject, with roots in the work of the ancient Greek mathematicians.

Number theory has traditionally been divided into two main areas: Elementary number theory, which deals with the basic properties of integers; and Analytic number theory, which investigates more sophisticated questions about the distribution of prime numbers.

In recent years, there has been a lot of interest in a third area of number theory called algebraic number theory, which combines ideas from both elementary and analytic number theory.
